How do we relax the most on weekends and holidays?  Many of us like to tour garden centres and other gardening based venues, such as gardens in the National Garden Scheme.  This particular scheme involves private gardens being opened up for members of the public on one or two days in a season, to come round and look – paying a small donation to the scheme’s nominated charity.    There is a book produced each year by the umberella company, one booklet for each county in the country.  These booklets can be found in post offices, libraries and most well established independent reailers in any town.  In most villages where several households decide to open, there is an agreed date, usually one used habitually for many.  If you want to visit all the gardens in one village for example, it is best to follow any directions to buy tickets at the first property on the route where maps and routes are handed out.
